PLOT (4 parts)

PT 1
The story revolves around a super hero named Helio who is a mid to high level hero who fights alongside his sidekick in a world full of super heroes and villains. However one day everything changes for the worse. One day Helio’s family was killed in a terrorist act which leads him to become a government enforcer of law. In his anger and sorrow he became even more powerful, to the point that he becomes a deterrent of all criminal activity in the country.

PT2
He was convinced by the government to take the position by appealing to his belief of protecting others. Helio believes that his actions are justified and in the best interest of the country, so that no one has to go through his suffering again. In the past Helio would never consider working for the government but he accepts the position now because he is willing to do anything to protect innocent people to make up for the fact that he could not save the lives of the people he cared for most. Blinded by self righteousness the government realized they can use and manipulate him to do their bidding.   Within 5 months the government was able to create a totalitarian state right under the noses of the country with propaganda and misinformation. The government has also unofficially taken over the world because no other country is willing to defy any request by the government no matter how absurd in fear of their new guard dog. Early in Helio’s new role of working for the government he was tested and quickly made an example of a villain that shocked the world and showed his new abilities. It was clear no one could oppose Helio and all the criminals and super powered alike had no choice but to give up. Propaganda fueled the belief that Helio and the government working together had created a perfect utopia free of crime and people loved it and supported it.
PT3
8 years later cracks in the façade the government created begin to show, however only a few realize that the government has created a totalitarian society under the disguise of protection. A small group of former heroes and villains unite as a rebellion in secrecy. Their leader is Orion the now grown former sidekick of Helio then known as Star kid. The rebellion knows they can’t physically take on Helio and expose the government’s true agenda. Their only option is to somehow convince Helio that the government has been using him for years. The rebellion manages to break into a government site in search of some sort of proof. Helio is alerted that a new terrorist threat is trying to steal secrets. Helio shows up and mops the floor with the rebellion only 3 members of the rebellion manage to escape when Helio is shocked and momentarily distracted to recognize one of the terrorist as his former sidekick Star kid. The rebellion is imprisoned for treason and used to instill fear in the public. Helio angered that he let 3 terrorist escape because he got distracted makes it his goal to hunt them down. The file the 3 remaining members including Orion found show several cases of censored information the government altered in their favor. Among them was the plan to create a fake terrorist plot to instill fear in the public, the same terrorist act that claimed the lives of Helio’s family.
PT4
In realizing what they had just discovered Helio crashes down enraged and ready to make a new example of them as he had done to the villain years ago. The 3 rebels dodging as many attacks as possible while trying to reason with Helio, however come up with no results. It finally comes down to Helio and an injured Orion, Helio realizing he badly injured his former sidekick has a moment of clarity and Orion finally broke through to him and convinced Helio to see the files for himself. Helio breaks down realizing what he has become and how easy he let himself be manipulated. 3 days later news breaks of all the lies the government created. In a panic for damage control the members of the government are met with Helio crashing down in his original costume with a smile on his face…the story ends there with the implication that Helio redeemed himself and brought down the government and restored balance to the world.

Week Two

We decided to create character sketches as the first step to see different interpretations. These sketches will lead us in the direction of style differences and maybe we can relate them to poster themes for example, propaganda posters or movie posters.  I was pleased with the way I designed the costume  of the character in the initial sketch, however I decided to changed the face a bit to give it more detail.

Week One

For the first week we brainstormed to figure out what would be the most efficient way to pitch the idea, and we decided on posters. Each of us would make a poster spitting the story in four parts. Poster are an effective way to show a visual timeline of the narrative, and each poster could look completely different in style and still connect with each other.
